Congratulations : THE TAXI CHARITY FOR MILITARY VETERANS

GREAT NEWS !
I am delighted to advise you that the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans has won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
It is the highest award given to UK volunteer groups, being equivalent to the MBE.
This is a very proud day for the Taxi Charity.
We were told in confidence a few weeks ago that we had won but were sworn to secrecy until today’s official announcement.
(QAVS winners are announced on 2nd June, the anniversary of The Queen’s coronation.)
So now it’s safe to tell everyone and spread the wonderful news.
Special consideration was given to awardees who provided impactful support in different ways to their usual work in response to the pandemic.
We came up with a number of imaginative ways of keeping in contact with our veterans; by telephone, by post and, where possible, in person.
I’d like to thank you for the important role you played which helped us win this prestigious award.
The many greeting cards and letters you sent us for redistribution were greatly appreciated as were the Lockdown Chronicles. The children’s messages undoubtedly raised morale and provided comfort to the veterans who realised they were not forgotten.
Your online ceremonies were also greatly appreciated by those veterans able to attend.
So many thanks to you and the staff and pupils at College St. Louis for all your help and support during this difficult year.
Best wishes,
